Individual Report - Project 1
It was a tough process for me to do the HTML Project 1 but now I satisfy because I have done a superb website (in my opinion). :) Here, I want to share all about my difficulties when I was doing the Project. It was not as easy as I thought before. First, I had to find a free web-hosting to upload my HTML File Sample. Find, find, find and finally got the easiest one www.yolasite.com then I signed up. Wuahhhh, I was so happy because the template already given and I just chose it. But suddenly something came into my mind. How can I upload the HTML File Sample using this free web-hosting? Then I tried to upload it from Site Manager there. Yes! The upload was success but when I refreshed the link nothing happened. I was asking myself why the page was not changed same like HTML File Sample that I have made? My brain suddenly had to think hard. Think, think, think, think, and think. Yes! Maybe the file could not be read. So, I tried another way. I opened the HTML tab on the website then I copy-pasted all the codes from the notepad. Haha… I was laughing at that time finally finished (my mind at that time thinking like this.) The page could view my sentences and content in the HTML File Sample. But suddenly, my brain kept asking me, why the code that I have written in the HTML doesn’t be the same? Fiuhh… Something must be wrong! (title) code that I have written in the HTML doesn’t be the same? Fiuhh… Something must be wrong!
Suddenly I was thinking what did Ms.Shahrinaz said to us in the class 1st June 2009. She said, “The HTML file, you must upload it to the web-hosting not copy-paste. I will check it and I will know the difference.” Oh yes, I already did a wrong one. I did copy-paste not upload. But actually I did the copy-paste because when I upload through the yolasite.com, there was nothing happened to my website. Then I tried to find another free-webhosting. Fiuh…… search at the google-search by name “free web-hosting” and I tried one by one of the free web-hosting from the lists there. Oh my God, all can’t upload the HTML file. Some can upload, but nothing changed in my web-page. I have tried webs.com (give up because don’t know how to upload), geocities.com (under construction), bravenet.com (heard from Ms.Sha can, but when I tried the free one, always showed me that I have to pay first then I could use the web-hosting. Damn lah! Because have tried a lot and my mind was dying.). I was very stressed at that time, I spent for 2 hours just to find the right web-hosting that can help me to upload and my page can show the difference same like I have made in the HTML File Sample. So desperate at that time.
Thanks God! Finally, I found one free web-hosting www.ueuo.com I signed up and tried. And yes! I could upload it and when I opened my link, the link was successfully worked! Ohh… I was so happy. The effort that I gave finally came to the end. Thanks to people who have made the free web-hosting www.ueuo.com because of you, I could do my Project 1. First task finally finished. The website already found. Then the second task designed my HTML File.
The HTML file that I uploaded on the web-hosting at the first time was just sample. I just want to know the changing to my web-page. And now I learnt to designed my true HTML File that I would upload later. The process of making the HTML file was very tough also. I finished all of these things in 2 days working. Yah.. not full 24 hours.. But I could say, I had spent more than 7 hours just to finish my Project 1. Fiuhh….
Ok! Let’s start my explanation!
If you see my web-page http://indonesiankids.freevar.com there are a lot of colors. I also changed my font character and the font size. Ms. Shahrinaz never taught me exactly about the font but maybe she taught us indirectly through the task that she told us to do by giving comment at her blogspot so I learnt by myself through the google search. To change the font character just use (font face= …….) just type any characters that I want. To change the color and size are just the same. The command can be made in a <> example; ( font face=”…….” Color=”……..” size=”………”). The color is not as simple that I thought, I have to search at google-search what is the color-code in HTML language.
Nb. I used to change the <> code to ( ) in above paragraph due to the limitation from the blog. Thank you!
In my web-page, also you can see there are two words are moving from left to right and right to left. Yes! I added them. I want to make my page lively. And Ms. Shahrinaz never taught us this code. Again, I found the code through the google-search. the code is using marquee. It is a fun code. Hehe… My mood was increased at that time. I was on fire to the Project 1. I found something interesting through it. One, my brain could keep thinking and my brain was forced to think hard. Two, I learnt to see details. As you know, the HTML Code is very sensitive. When you forget to type just one ‘ or one word, then the command will not work. So we had to be details and kept on our eye from lines to lines when we did the HTML Code just to make sure that there was no mistake error. I learnt to be more patient from doing this project. Haha… but it was true.
In my page again, I also used the table and I inserted images inside the table. It just as simple as I did in lab-class on 27th May 2009. All of the codes I learnt from Ms.Shahrinaz and it was true that I develop the code by my own logic and creativity. Another, the page I also use the bold code, italic, and how to insert the link. All of these, I learnt from Ms.Shahrinaz in the class.
There is something else that I want to share, the image background and the images. All of the images, I used to copy the link to my HTML File. Get what I mean? Last time, Ms.Sha just told us to copy the name of the images into the img src=”file name” right? But, my logic thought that it would not work if I put on the name so I tried to change the source by using the link of the images. And yes, it worked!
The background images I took from the google-images and images of my photo and muthia’s were uploaded in imageshack.us then after that we copied the link. All of this I learnt by myself. I just try and then it worked. Haha.. lucky me!
As you know all of these, I learnt from error and error. If there are no mistakes or errors, I wouldn’t learn something. The HTML file itself made me sitting in front of my laptop for 5 hours. To get the output better, I have to select one by one of the images, the colors, and the font size to make my web-page tidy. This is not easy as you think. It needs process and you have to be patient.
The technologies and tools that I learnt was google-search. Haha…. It was a good helper for me. I learnt a lot of codes from the link that google-search gave. From marquee to color, all of them were nice! Now I know, whenever I want to know something and want to search something that I don’t know I will choose my best friend; google-search, a simple tools that can guide you every where you want.
Actually the process of the upload was easy from all of the free-web-hosting that I had tried but the only problem was; the page was not changed. It was just the same. Nothing happened to the page. Almost got desperate then finally got www.ueuo.com. It helped me to upload easily.
The difficulty of using blog? Hm… actually nothing difficult for me. haha. Because I know how to use and blogging. I have my own blog and no wonder I can’t post and make my own blog for the CC106-Introduction to Internet Technologies. The process was just as usual, choose the template and then organize our own layout. And last, start blogging. That’s all!
The making process was nice. My friend, Muthia was very helpful. We did together although got stressed some time and we got argued. But at all, all of the things can work in the right time. The communication between us was good and I enjoyed working with my partner. Haha.
As a conclusion, I learnt a lot of things from the first project. Now I know a little bit of how making our own website using the HTML code. I hope for the next I can learn by myself and make my own website. I also learnt to be patient and details in a small thing. As you know, HTML code is very sensitive so must be careful. Overall, I love this project, the way of doing it! Haha. If I were going to do this assignment again, I would develop the web-page to be more professional in the term of design and lay-out. I am not saying that my project is bad but I just want to make it more and more creative in my own way.
